Long Press on Home Button Opens Google Assistant not Gemini

I changed my Google 'AI' from Google Assistant to Gemini. However, a long press on the Home button opens the old Google Assistant and not Gemini as expected. How to fix? Gemini works fine when opened via the Gemini app.

But not a standard feature in all Android devices. It is used in Samsung's though, which is why the OP is mistakenly assuming Gemini should invoke instead of Google Assistant (which it isn't invoking either, it's the circle to search feature as I've already stated).

Yep, I didn't take into account your first sentence which referred to the long press home button option, which is really circle to search on our Samsungs.

Gemini and Circle to search are the base features of Google's Android, if not on 15,on Android 16 will  be

But it's not a base feature, that's the point. I only pointed it out as on most android 14/15 devices not Google or Samsung, long pressing home has no function.

Just to be clear, you're responding to my comment, but it's the OP post you need to pay attention to instead of trying to correct my comment. I didn't mention the long press in my initial comment because it's assumed based on the original post.

Yes, you are right.  But everyone else who answered here got it wrong too. Long press home button will invoke Google Assistant,  until Google replaces it with Gemini. (RIP, Google Assistant)

Well no it doesn't right now, at least not an active invocation. Whether it will or not in the future is besides the point, I just wanted to clarify to the OP that expecting Gemini to invoke by holding the home button isn't the expected behaviour right now, nor is it a standard in Android.

And Samsung removed option for invoking Gemini through navigation bar witch is indeed Android option

You are correct. I was misled by ChatGPT which advised a long press on the Home button would invoke Gemini if that is set as the preferred 'AI'. This is what happens when you trust an Artificial I d i o t
