I left my flashlight on last night and slept for  11 hours due to being very sick, and woke up to the phone dead and very hot. It was at 25% when I feel asleep and the flashlight was pointing up. So I'm just curious if this caused any damage to the phone at all

Hey there and welcome to the Samsung UK and EU Community Customer to Customer Forum

Relax. It is unlikely to have caused any damage but it is also not recommended to do this frequently lol

I didn't expect it to stay on endlessly as well until the battery is flat, interesting

LED technology does have a finite lifetime... but generally are long lasting... many thousands of hours. So long as you don't make a habit of this... then you should be OK.

Maybe worth creating an auto off routine, if you want to avoid a similar issue.

Never happened to me because I don't turn the flash on as the last thing before I sleep, usually if I forget it on, it's only until I pick the phone up the next time 15-30 minutes, one can then easily notice by the light itself or icon in notifications bar, but curious to know that it doesn't have a pre-configured timeout

You can easily create a Routine as someone suggested.

Modes and Routines / If - Start manually when start button or widget is tapped / Then - Torch On, Wait before next action (in my case 10 seconds), Torch 2 off / When Routine ends - Return to status before routine ran

Give it a name and you're set, as long as you use this Routine.
