Have you looked at the vivid display and vivid slider @Brittle
Also check that the Eye Comfort Shield and Adaptive Colour tone is not on.
I do think this phone has been more geared to the natural tone which some won't like.

I have the same. The colors on vivid are over exposed. The colors are to extreme making some bright parts look straight up white and harsh. This can be fixed with an update. I would love to make it possible to have a contrast slider o
ption (and exposure) to tweak this for personal preferences.
Personally I find settings as shown in the image right now the best fit for me (with eye comfort shield off, if it's on then vividness slider all the way to the right for more contrast).
