This is an interesting thing I've discovered: I have a 45W Samsung 2.0 (third-party, so take with a grain of salt) plug and the charger that came with my phone. I have another that came with my galaxy book 4 edge and a third-party one. Interestingly, I got different, repeating results for each cable. All show the exact same charge time and Fast Charge 2.0—images provided.

Perfectly happy with the amazing charge time, so this isn't the topic. I'm more intrigued by the results showing the same charge speed regardless of the wattage.

Not my field of expertise @johnz237

The phone will draw what charge it needs is my layman's understanding.

I turn my phone off overnight and pop it onto my Samsung Charging stand.  🙃

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

Very interesting. I have a third party charger capable of meeting super fast charge 2.0 requirements, it charges my phone at 8.3-9.1v but at 4a. So the same speed as the official but seemingly a lower voltage and higher amperage.

It seems third party chargers don't go over 9v but send more amps to compensate. (My charger is capable of 20v so it's not the charger being funny)

I think it's the voltage that's important. So it's bad to supply to many volts to a device. Phones will have a controller so you can't give it to many watts. Amps are similar as it will only draw what's required. That's my understanding anyway.

Superfast Charge 2.0 relies on the Power Delivery standard. It's built into the chips which communicate from the phone and charger to regulate charging voltages. The S25 series is by far Samsung's most lenient for accepting Superfast Charge 2.0. I personally have 3 45W PD 2.0 chargers, one of which is a genuine Samsung. This plug and cable was the only one that reliably charged all my other Samsung devices (Note 10+ 5G, S20/22/23/24 Ultras, Tab S7+, Tab S8 Ultra) at Superfast Charge 2.0. My S25 Ultra is capable of this with all my chargers and with any cable combinations I choose. It's also the only device that actually reaches 45W in actual charging speed (from 0 to around 30%).

So isn't it 45W then?

As other replies suggested, it adjusts to the device's needs. 45W under 30%, from what I've gathered. Still incredible charging speeds mind
