Phone battery tech has come on a long way since ni-cad and other tech.

Lithium ion batteries and newer battery tech these days do not necessarily require a long first charge. 'Conditioning the battery' is not required.

They are shipped usually with about 50% battery... just give it a charge to 100% if you want... and away you go.

Hi! Welcome to the Samsung Members community!

When you first get the phone, it is still in the learning phase, it used to be recommended to do this in general, but modern batteries have no memory effect.

Personally, I have never intentionally charged mine to 100% before use.

So no, not a need, but may help with the auto optimisations- and even then it won't make a difference in the long run

Days of charging for a certain amount of time are long gone with smartphones now.
If a new phone has a decent amount of charge in it. I will use it straight away and charge when I get round to it.
The only real advice is to just use the phone how you normally do during the battery learning cycle.
Typically takes around a week.
During this time the battery can be inconsistent. But will settle down quickly.
Just use it an enjoy 😊

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

It's been my experience that the phone out of the box is charged 60 percent or so.  Depending on the output of your charger and whether you're using a cable or wirelessly charging, the time for to reach 100 percent will take a different amount of time, but considerably less than five hours.

I can't imagine a charge taking five hours.   Enjoy your phone and charge it overnight while you're sleeping.
