Hi everyone your probably sick of me and I understand I'm a right royal pain in the butt!!!!!
But 9/10 times I take a pic say in my front room with the grandkids playing and the place where the window is is always blown out I can take 20 pics and 1 will have the window as it should with the net curtain..... I've tried everything but I get the fruit camera out and it takes it with the net curtain and not blown out window x

I'm going crazy......

Thanks in advance x

Agreed but I imagine the prevalence of HDR has made many not worry about this as much.

Then there are numpties like me that pre plan sun position and angle for some shots days in advance lol. Phones are amazing tools.

They certainly are amazing tools, and how far they have come over the last 20 years. My first camera phone was a Nokia 6202 in 2005, and I knew then that one day we would have devices in our pockets that could produce DVD quality videos and near pro camera images. Well, here we are at that point in time. I love capturing life's moments on my S25 Ultra. Every photo or video session leaves me with a smile on my face @Chappell101. A smile to signify how blessed I feel. 👍

I appreciate not having to always have a heavy camera on me now even if i miss the ergonomics. The best camera is always the one with you but when we started edging over the 20MP mark things really clicked for me as I finally had a little cropping headroom without the big lenses I just didn't have at 12MP.

I really miss my Samsung S4 Zoom it was amazing. I found the iPhone 3GS the first phone I enjoyed taking pictures on.

My Nokia N8 really kick started my interest in mobile photography and videography for sure. The Zeiss optics of my Nokia N96 were noteworthy too.

Never had a N96 but they were good. I don't remember the 3GP video days on Nokia that fondly TBH (Compact was far better)

I had a Sony Ericsson Cybershot camera on one that worked well for the time but it was the early iOS developers making creative software that made me realise phones would take over for pictures due to the apps.

Still like my mirrorless of course but you can do wonders on phones now. I'm happy it's made photography more accessible for even more people.

Tapping on the screen in a certain area before you take the photo wil set the exposure for a certain area of the scene. In the first pic I tapped on the window and the second I tapped on the screen where the basket is on the table. yvOLsJ4emP.jpgJkNhTUmMib.jpg

It's unusual for the exposure compensation slider or EV dial to not be enough though as they note using it. Without knowing the locations dynamic range though 🤷.

I just find it easier and quicker than messing about with settings and things. Especially when taking pictures of the grandkids.

I don't do that simply as it can shift focus, Why i use the sun slider on quick candids. Whatever works easiest for the user is right though, you don't want to miss the shot.
