Why has the brightness dlider for always on display gone now i need to make it brighter without changing any other features i am using

The Always On Display brightness control was adjusted to improve battery efficiency and enhance UI consistency, @Mawby. As a result, the manual brightness slider may no longer appear on some devices and software versions. The Always On Display brightness now adapts automatically based on your device's ambient light conditions.

If you prefer brighter output, you may increase overall screen brightness from the Quick Panel or enable the Adaptive brightness setting in Settings > Display.

The brightness slider has been gone for some time now. Yes it was useful, but having said that - I've not had any issues with the brightness of the AOD adjusting itself automatically.  If you're in a really dark room ie: during the night I've found it's still bright enough to see the clock / time.  When the ambient surroundings get brighter then so will the AOD increase its brightness just fine.
