@chaz19: Please try heading to Settings > Connections > Data usage > Allowed network for apps > WhatsApp, and make sure that this is set to 'Mobile data or Wi-Fi'. Do the same for Messenger, and let me know if this helps.

@chaz19: If you connect to an alternative Wi-Fi network, does the problem persist? If so, try checking the Google Play Store > Tap your profile in the top right > Manage apps and device > Updates to see if any updates are available for the affected apps. Furthermore, head to Settings > Software update > Download and install, followed by Settings > Security and privacy > Updates > Security update, to ensure your phone is fully up to date.

@chaz19 I'd suggest to send this as feedback via the Samsung Members App so that tjis can be looked at by the relevant department.
I've no issues myself however I Appreciate people can come up against very real issues.
