In search of using the camera for its true abilities.

What megapixel setting do everyone use for capturing excellent photos?

I have read that many have stopped using 200 mp. But I want what is advertised on Samsung's website as 200mp the quality of qualities of photos📸

Hi

I use the 12MP as its a binned down version and is the best one for everyday photography.

Any particular reason you want ot use the 50MP and/or 200MP mode?

They will take longer to process and don't seem quiet optimised at the moment.

Want to maximise the phones photo quality at 200mp to take stunning images.

I see from online research the anticipated camera upgrade is due sometime in April so I will have to wait longer.

I moved from S10Plus that is much better in photo quality compared to this phone.

Thank you for your advice which I will action and trail.

Personally I don't see the need of using the 200MP unless you gonna print the image very very big or want to crop bits of it and stuff.

Also it's a waste of resources and will slow down everything.

It may able with stationary subjects or maybe more suited for landscape photography.

If you are really into photography Try the pro camera or expert raw camera albeit upto 50MP.

Do post pictures and play around the different modes.

This phone has just too many options now I sometimes feel overwhelmed by them ☺️

Also Samsung has moved towards more muted and natural colours . That's why you find them not so good compared to the s10+ which are more vivid.

Turn on the Vivid setting under display settings.

12 Mp mode is my choice for most of the pictures I take for sure. I am a casual amateur Archaeologist in my spare time and I find 200Mp mode superb for recording surface detail on standing stones etc. to an incredibly detailed level. 200Mp mode is most certainly NOT just a gimmick in my opinion.

I agree with @GoanGeek, for every day photography the 12MP is quite good.

The 50MP tends to produce more saturated colours. It has been improved after the recent update, but it might need a bit more tweaking yet.

In good conditions, I have had good results with all three. So, it really depends on what sort of picture you are taking, the subject and the conditions.

I have to say, making a claim the S10 takes better photo's than the S24 Ultra is a wild claim. I mean if that's truly your opinion, then I think you haven't used enough sample shots to make a truly informed opinion. I use a Galaxy Note 10+ 5G (which is pretty much the S10 camera system) and there's no way I'd say it's a better shot taker than my S24 Ultra. Details, colours, vividness and range are all surpassed in every way.

I like to use 12 mp for every day photos, because I can customise it more, I use 200 mp for more detail photos as the quality is better, but less colour and customisation, and I haven't found the need to use 50 mp because it's neither detailed nor coloured.
