If it doesn't change date, I'd suggest booting into safe mode and attempting the update.
To boot a Samsung device into Safe Mode, power it off completely, then power it back on. When the Samsung logo appears, press and hold the Volume Down key until Safe Mode is activated and displayed on the bottom left of the screen.

If you go into settings and About Phone
Tap on Software Information
Then tap on Google Play System Update
These are not cumulative updates. So if they haven't been done for a while, there maybe a few to do

This is what I get when I press on the security patch warning. In comparison, the google play update is green.
I've also just tried in safe mode and I get the same result.
I already wiped the system cache too.
