Rcs seems to depend a lot on your network provider, eg, I've never had an issue with it, rcs works just fine for everyone I talk to who uses it. And to answer the main question, Samsung messages has been deprecated, Google messages is now what should be used

Their Just updated the Samsung messages app to work for Ui7 beta program before it gets released fully next year. Samsung are promising it to be much than previously earlier version. You don't have to upgrade to the Google messages app as it will still be available if you haven't deleted the app as it's still being improved to run with the Android 15 ui 7.
