Samsung... What's going on? I waited for a long time to upgrade my beloved S20 to this new S20 Ultra mainly for the cameras and I cannot be more disappointed. The quality is absolutely TERRIBLE. Who came up with automatic image enhancement and why there isn't an option to switch it off? I kind of like the picture when I take it but then the gallery does it auto enhance thing (which cannot be reversed!?!?!?!?!) and the picture goes from bad to worse EVERY SINGLE TIME!

I'm hugely disappointed. I'm sure this is just the software, not hardware issue. Can this be fixed? Such a blunder for such a large worldwide company it's almost unthinkable.

Hi @Rawess

You are not the first to want to discuss how the optimisation for taken photographs works on the phone.

If you perform a forum search you should find existing threads with some further help and discussion within.

It can be adjusted to minimum but nit fully turned Off.

This forum is a predominantly a user to user help and discuss forum.

To give direct feedback to Samsung I'd suggest to use that option located within the Samsung Members App.

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

Hey there and welcome to the Samsung UK Community Forum

In addition to the excellent comment above from @BandOfBrothers, we are also hearing that there may be a major software / firmware update on the S24 Series in August (but to manage expectations, we were told it would be out in May, June and July so will believe it when we see it).
I am not employed by Samsung nor do I receive any remuneration as a Samsung Members Star.

My device is an S25 Ultra.

I hope we won't wait for the last update to improve the camera. I mean the last upgrade after 7 years. Just kidding 😋

Hi.
As stated lots of people seem to not like the after optimisation of the camera.

Personally I love what Samsung has done with s24 series cameras so much that I don't even feel the need to edit anymore beside maybe a crop here and there.

My go to answer is stick to the default lenses and 12MP mode is where it shines.
Turn off the auto optimisation
And / or

Use pro mode or expert raw app from Samsung.

You are welcome to check some of the photos I have posted under my profile and comment what you think.

I also much prefer the image processing over previous models but they do need to fix night mode image noise, over saturated greens. Over the older S23 Ultra I find processing is more natural not over sharpened like before. But they do seem to have become a bit slower of late with updates. 5x zoom here 20240713_134907_1000005379_1720874948.jpg20240713_134853_1000005378_1720874934.jpg20240713_124830_1000005391_1720891665.jpg

Disable Samsung Gallery picture and video permissions. This will stop all the post processing. But this will not allow you to use the app. The hack for it is to give gallery limited permission to only one photo you don't care about.  This will allow you to use it to edit photos but will still keep the post processing off to all other photos and videos.

if you don't close the app it stays and you can access Gallery from camera app. I mostly keep my Gallery and camera app open anyway.  I really like the editing from Gallery but this post processing just ruined my sunset photos with unreasonable saturation.
