My phone is constantly overheating even when it isn't being used and when I do use it, it over heats and crashes! Anyone have any advice on what I could do?

Thank you

Not good... How long have you had it and was it new?

Few things to try:

- ensure all software is up-to-date
- clear cache partition (YT, Google or search here how to do it)
- failing all that, a full reset is the penultimate last resort before
- asking for a replacement (but hopefully it doesn't need to get to this)

My experience seems to be phones get particularly warm in the first few weeks but settle, but also heat isn't always bad as they are designed to move heat away from the processor and disperse.

With that said, crashing and freezing is clearly not what's supposed to happen.

Hey there and welcome to the Samsung UK and EU Community Customer to Customer Forum

Sorry to hear of your issues. This may likely be due to a rogue app on your device running in the background.

Please check which apps are using your battery the most and consider whether to clear their cache in the first instance and if that doesn't work, either disable them after use or delete them.

Install the Good Guardians app from the Galaxy Store. It's just called store on your phone. Then install the module called thermal guardian. This will give you a lot of information about how your phone is heating up and possibly what's causing it. There are also options to adjust when this happens. If the phones on contract then your first port of call is your network provider.

Hi, @Courtsj1998 and warm welcome 👋

In order to determine if its 3rd party apps or themes you can try safe mode and see if that happens in safe mode.

https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-to-start-my-galaxy-device-in-safe-mode/

Try using diagnostics tools in members app under support section.

Wipe cache partition:
Turn off your phone, plug into PC, tv etc via USB Then press and hold power and volume up button until samsung logo appears Then quickly release power button and keep holding volume up button until reboot menu appears then navigate with volume down button till wipe cache partition press power button to confirm restart your phone.

If nothing helps I'm suggest you to book a repair or if you have samsung store close to you you can get them looked at it.
