Hey i need some help...I'm trying figure out how to turn off popup notifications.

If I'm sharing my screen to watch video. Or recording screen. Or many reasons I don't want my message notifications to automatically pop up on screen without me having opened them.

I have found some ways to do this (should be an option in the settings I say) but unfortunately I can't get zero pop ups AND edge lighting unless I use a routine

Ie: turn off all popups (must do this in WhatsApp settings since the phone itself has no option I've found) then:
if WhatsApp notifies then edge light on

Problem is... that doesn't work on the lock screen and that's kinda the whole point for me... to light up the edge with a specific colour while phone is locked so I can see where my notifications came from without having to unlock.

Go to settings, then notifications. Or get rid of WhatsApp as it's bloody irritating and not really needed.

The edge lighting doesn't work for me too when the screen is off... let's hope they'll fix it with the next update

Edge lighting needs "pop up when screen is off" to make edge lighting work on the lock screen, the edge lighting works only when a pop up is activated , turn off pop ups and that turns off edge lighting!!

I live in the UK where everyone uses WhatsApp.

Even if I delete it... I'm not gonna delete telegram and insta and Snapchat and YouTube and messages and Gmail and basically all my communication apps. I need at least 1. Even stock messaging app. Like... cmon

I know. Like... if I get a popup I don't need edge lighting do I?
I got a whole message on the screen... can't really miss it...

I'm not sure samsung realised the point of edge lighting.

Samsung.. remember how in the note 3 the LED would light up? Depending on the type of notifications? Can you provide the option to do THAT with edge lighting please .

What's the point? brief or detailed. No other option.

You can reinstall it afterwards, but delete it and see if it solves the problem, I deleted WhatsApp because of the problems it caused. I'm not saying you have to delete all your messaging apps, just WhatsApp.

My problem isn't with WhatsApp though. It's with Samsung not giving me the option to turn off pop up notifications. Like... why mention it if it's not really an option? It's like asking if I'd prefer always using the highest brightness, with no option to answer "no". So why ask anyway? Whys the option there? Waste of a bit of space in my system memory that could have freed up some line of code for other things. Like if user doesn't want popups then never show popups
