Poor in low light on zooming

The video (which I've had to crop for this site) shows that in low light (and it was very dark), if I zoom in it goes really dark. Is this normal? Is there a better setting?

Hi is there a answer or fix yet? Thinking I need to return and swap for a different brand as photos are the main reason for buying
