I have an S24 Ultra and just recently started to use the Spark Driver app. Since I use this app and the phone is plugged in the car (Android Auto), the phone is often overheated, just stops working and doesn't do anything. Even if I unplug it still can't start the google map, camera or any apps. After it's cooling off I can use it again.
This is ridiculous. I deliver something to an address in the middle of nowhere in the night and than I have to sit there for 5-10 minutes and wait because the GPS, map, navigation (or anything else on the phone) not working. This phone is ruining my job and make it dangerous.
My phone is one month old and costs over $1200, I would like to know how Samsung going to fix it. An expensive, 2024 model can't handle the navigation and an app together...?
Also would like to know if there is any way to keep the phone plugged in the car, but do NOT charge all the time.

Hi @Judy
This sounds like an app issue not the phone 🤔 as you say this has just stated to happen after using the Spark Driver App.
It might be worth enquiring with the app developer, and using a Google Search may find other posts created about issues between the app and phone's.
However you can clear the cache files of the app to see if that helps.
And Clear the phone's System Partition Cache Files Section too.
This is achieved by > Clear Cache Files from the phone's System Partition Section > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop or use a Tv's USB Port to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files.There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too { Possibly excluding the s²⁴ Series of phone's }
Are you using a ³rd party connection option to connect into your car ?
If the phone's resources are being used intensively then it has the capability to warm up more.
If a phone is overheating then the phobe would present a pop up message warning of overheating, and in extreme circumstances automatically shut the phone down.
A Samsung phone will only draw what power it needs to charge to full, and then would drop to a trickle charge if the phone drops below 100% ,or 80% if the protect battery is activated.
If you have a case fitted or screen protector then these can hinder heat dissipation. Consider removing them.
There is a diagnostic test tool found in your Samsung Members App to check out the phone.
A Samsung Service Centre can assess your phone too.
If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask 😎

Hey there - just google "Samsung android auto charging overheating" and you will see that this is not a specific user issue. I have S23U suffering the same and reached even this forum when looking for solution. It seems that wireless AA with charging simply causes device to overheat - in my case phone is in the central console out of direct sunlight, not enclosed so there is (some) air circulation, it is charging via cable and it still overheats - device pops up a message that due to overheating it killed some processes obviously including Android Auto.
This is very inconvenient and annoying especially on long routes where navigation suddenly crashing without possibility to immediately restart makes me slow down or even stop until I can restart it and find out where to go.
Samsung please look into it.

Pretty sure it's the phone. It only happens on my S24 ultra. Not my iPhone 16 Pro Max.

I am having the same issue.
S24 Ultra 512GB
Whether I use, wireless or wired connection, the problem is same. It starts overheating and after some time, the phone gps stops working messing up everything.
It's so sad to experience such on this top tier model. Eagerly looking for a solution.

If the steps provided by @BandOfBrothers hasn't helped, we would recommend submitting an error report for this behaviour. We have left a guide on how to submit this below. This allows our Research and Development team to investigate this behaviour further, and should it be an issue with our software, rather than the app in question, we can get this fixed moving forwards. If it turns out to be a poorly configured app, then the app developer would need to investigate their app's behaviour.
