Issue: My Files App Doesn't Copy/Move Files Along with Folders

Previously, using the My Files app (which integrates with OneDrive), I could copy entire folders, including their contents, to my phone's internal storage. However, it seems that this no longer works.

Now, when I try to copy a folder, only the folder itself is copied, but none of the files inside it. To move the files, I have to manually open the folder and copy each file, which is really inconvenient.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know a solution?

Hi @krastev

Is the copy issue between OneDrive and the Internal storage? I just tried copying a folder from my Internal storage to another folder in the internal storage and it works. This was done on S24 Ultra.

Saying that, I had experienced cases where copying files do not work depending on how I do it.

If I open the app and tap on Download and try to copy a file the menu paste here did not work. However, if went app -> Internal Storage -> Download-> file and copy then I could paste into another place.

I think that it was a bug, because I just tried it now going app -> Download  and it worked as well.

Have you tried clearing the cache for the app?

Settings -> Apps -> My Files -> Storage -> Clear cache.

I would try a force stop before clearing cache.

Settings -> Apps -> My Files -> Force stop.

Yes I am experiencing this issue also, but through Android file tranfer. The problem got worse a couple of years ago with dcim. I made a yearly folder with folders by date inside this in my phone gallery. Open Android file transfer look in the year folder and the files inside are not there  they are in dcim. I then have to transfer out of dcim into the year folder in the computer then delete the files in dcim  then drag the files from the computer into the year folder in Android file transfer. When I open gallery in my phone the contents of the year folder are not there, they are down the page and have to be be moved back into the year folder. Its a nightmare. There doesn't seem to get any fixes about this. I am having to re do all of my gallery at present due to a phone change. My files were transferred with smart switch and the same issue occurred. I'm currently trying to load them all again directly into dcim, again they are separated and I gave to manually put them back into the year folder. I will post again if it helps when I do a test after only transferring 8 folders.  It seems to be a problem all round. Apologies for being long winded about it.

Regards.
