I always have to authorise payment in Wallet with a pin or fingerprint. Why is that necessary? It isn't in Google Pay. Is there a way to stop it from asking for my pin?

I've also noticed this lately when using Google Wallet. Sometimes required to enter my PIN.

It's encrypted anyway, you don't need to do this with Google

Google is going to do the same soon as they have added more security, so everytime to want to pay with your phone you'll be asked for the pin first for each transactions.

@yellowmatic in a nutshell it's for your protection from unauthorised usage.

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

But Google and Apple don't do it. You need to unlock your phone before using it anyway, no? I think I'll just use Google Pay from now on, I can't have to enter my pin every time I use the phone to pay.

As I've already said, Google Wallet is now asking for verification PIN before allowing me to use the phone to pay. If it prevents unauthorised use then I'm not going to complain.
