Intelligent Wi-Fi / Mobile Data Always active

Has anyone else seen recently that Intelligent Wi-Fi / Mobile Data Always active has stopped working as it did previously?

One UI 6.1

On my old s20, when I connected to a Wi-Fi that didn't provide internet, mobile data was still connected and allowed me to browse the internet and stream etc. Now, even with "Switch to mobile data" enabled in the intelligent Wi-Fi settings, my mobile data status icon disappears whenever I am connected to Wi-Fi and I cannot browse anything online.

Hi sorry i am on UI7 but looking at iWIFI the options are the same, what if you turn off IWIFI for that WIFI MAC/Access point, does it connect to Data ?

What if you remove that access point from IWIFI list.

OK, doesn't appear to make any difference. removed or not, when connected to WiFi, mobile data connection drops.
