Can someone in Samsung explain to me why you would make a secure folder which is supposed to protect your credit cards etc less secure by leaving it able to be accessed after you've left the program it just beggars belief the incompetence this stupidity and the overall lack of common sense that went into that decision let's hope somebody with a little bit of brain and some common sense changes it and makes it secure as it was before the most ridiculous change of the many many stupid changes Samsung usually makes but this one plums are low depth of stupid if anybody can find a logical good reason for reducing security in such an inlet and totally unbelievably bad way please tell me because I'm assuming Samsung engineers were intelligent because I loved by Folds for two four and seven but whoever does that software has to be the balance to their intelligence by dragging the IQ down by 200 that's what I think of best change moronic would be an understandment

You wrote a very angry paragraph without actually mentioning what the issue is.

Can you explain what the problem actually is?

Secure folder is still as secure as it's always been

They have removed the lock on exit and left it so that if you've been in secure folder to get a credit card or something and you put your phone down somebody else can just pick it up and go into your secure folder because it does not lock when you leave it so please tell me if that is not a stupid downgrade or you can justify why it's worth it

Ah now I see.

Do you not have a code on your phone by any chance? As in, even if your cards weren't in the secure folder, your phone lock would prevent someone from accessing things.

As for the setting. The original setting would lock the secure folder when you opened an app within it, then closed that app.

The current setting only locks the secure folder when you lock your phone/press the power button to turn the screen off.

The idea is people who are worried about security wouldn't leave their phone unlocked out in the open, they'd lock the screen if they were going to put it somewhere. Doing that locks the phone and the secure folder. If you unlocked your phone and the secure folder, as long as the device isn't locked it's almost always going to still be in your hands.

The only main reason I can think of where the old setting is helpful is if you use the secure folder, then immediately hand your phone to someone else. Then it would be unlocked yeah. But you can manually lock the secure folder with a button if you were going to do that. Plus that person could probably just access equally private things anyway if they really wanted to

You're totally wrong imagine the scenario you're in your office doing some work you get a phone call you put your phone down the screen does not turn off you're getting close to your phone somebody picks up your phone four minutes later before the screen lock comes in and they've got access to all your credit cards and can go on holiday so how on Earth do you think that is okay I'm sorry when it comes security stop texting me because for you to condone that change shows that you have no sense about security so I'm going to end this conversation enjoy your insecure life

Your issue is placing your phone down without locking it. That's the insecure action here.

There's more valuable data outside the secure folder than the card numbers within it

A non issue of course for anyone with common sense and modicum of security awareness

Samsung phone are protected by Knox as whole not only Secure Folder. As a security both are same. The only difference is that Secure Folder is another layer of security within phone like apps Lock.
Yes there were some concerns in UI7 about Secure Folder which is addressed and more refined in UI8.
