Is there an alternate application or option to turn off post processing completely on the stock camera app?

I really dislike that images after a second or two in the gallery "upscale" and change. (usually negatively impacting the image by making detail streaky and chsnging the colour balance) In my opinion the sample prior to this upscaling taking place is generally far better and more natural.

I have super HDR off in the gallery application and have image optimisation at minimum but can't seem to find a way to completely disable the post processing on photos I take.

It seems far worse at 50mp and 200mp, where I would expect far more detail when zooming in on an image but instead it's "optimised" erasing all detail.  Expert RAW and Pro camera still have this post processing also.

Yup, i agree, its literally disgusting sometimes. I really hoped a phone like this will make better photos, but its a huge disappointment with the camera, because of this problem

I HAVE SUSSED THIS. IT WAS DRIVING ME CRAZY, BACK AND FORTH WITH EE/SAMSUNG.

Disable gallery permissions so it can't be used, and use your Google photos to view pics. Will stop the post processing. Hope this helps!!

This post explains exactly what I am experiencing with my S24 Ultra. The preview image is often times much better looking than the image after post processing. Here is what I mean, I took a print screen before the post processing (right picture). It feels a little soft but I prefer it this way and be able to adjust it later than having an overblown picture where "everything" is ramped up and cannot be undone later.

It seems to do exactly what I needed, no post processing from Samsung.

Now I lost the Gallery's access to the pictures and I have to find out some alternative.

Definitely the post processing should be a simple toggle "on" or "off" and let the user decide when to use it.

So i started using google photos as suggested, you have to wait a bit so google can upload your pics so you can see it in "google photos" but it's a workable solution - just remove the permissions for the gallery app and don't upgrade/update it if there's an update!

As a side note, on 50MP or higher i do see the notice saying that "optimizing photos" is happening sometimes after i'm done taking photos but for me, my problems with the linear flow of photos has stopped, no more photos shown in the order they were "rendered" vs when they were taken (which is a hug plus) -  at 12MP resolution there is nothing.

either way this is a total work around - you think that we're asking for a whole re-write of the samsung gallery software instead of a switch to turn off post processing!  (and the fact that still isn't fixed is utter *****)

i really think this will be the last samsung ultra phone for me - pixel looks better and better.

Marked this as a solution to help others with the workaround...

More examples of results with gallery permissions turned off while taking a picture and then after allowing access and taking a new picture

Ummm... This actually appears to be one of those rare instances where the automatic processing actually IMPROVED a photograph, unless the purpose of the photo was to show someone dust or fading on the statue lol. The After image in this case actually "pops" better.

Inever have such luck.
