How to change notification sound on Samsung stock messaging app

Hi,

I want to change the notification sound when I receive messages, but the only thing I am able to do is change the default notification sound for all notifications on the device if going into the Settings app. So my question is, is it possible to change just the notification sound for the messages app, not Google messages. Many thanks for any help!

This has been driving me nuts for two days, but I finally found it. Samsung, in their infinite wisdom, turned off the option by default on the newer devices. Do not ask me why. Anyway to fix this you need to go into the device settings. Under notifications look for Advanced Settings.  At the very bottom of that screen is an option "Manage notification categories for each app." Turn that on. You can now go back to messages and change the notification sound
