Game progress on new phone

Hi all, Happy New Year. I have just got a new Samsung phone and have successfully xferred all my apps etc via Smart Switch, including all the games I play, but none of my progress has xferred, all games have gone back to the start. Is there anyway I can get my progress onto my new phone?

If you have a Google account (and you must have one because of the Google Play Store), there is the Google Play Games application that saves all the progress of all the games you have downloaded from the Google Play Store..

For all applications (including the games) I use Google account and Google backup.
