Editing a out of date Contact list

The Contacts list on my Samsung S24  has grown as earlier Samsung phone lists get carried over to my current phone. I now need to clear it out, deleting many entries, updating some, and adding some new ones. 
Ideally I would like to this on a copy of the Contacts list on my PC as I find editing on the Smartphone keyboard difficult - in fact impossible as I can't see how to do it!
What is the best way to go about this?

You can manage your contacts in the Phone app, tap 3 dots > Manage contacts. You can sync your contacts with your Google and Samsung accounts, and you can save all your future contacts directly to your Google account, so all your contacts will be available to you no matter which phone you use, as long as you use the same accounts. It couldn't be easier than that
