Battery drain during idle Samsung S24

Hey everyone,

Having some significant battery drain on my Samsung S24+ during idle time and wanted to check-in with you guys. It seems like my battery usage is not significantly impacted by on-screen time, but is constantly being drained while idle.

As an example, I have used my phone for 28 minutes today (over a ~12 hour period) and the battery has drained 28%. A few days this week, I had 2 hours of on-screen time over a 24-hour period and used approximately 50% battery.

Another point of interest is that the battery usage information is not accurate. When looking at my current usage period (i.e. 28% battery usage over 12 hour period w/ 28 minutes of screen time), the top app reports that it has used 0.8% battery, and when adding up the total of all apps shown it totals 3.1% of my battery usage.

My question for you all is, where is my battery usage going? I would expect samsung to report all sources of battery usage including usage from enabling wifi, bluetooth, mobile date, etc. Seems like device care is reporting on average one tenth of my battery usage with the other 90% slowly draining over time unreported. FYI, I have bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Cellular Data, and UWB activated.

Hi @Etch-a-sketch

Background processes will use the battery along with apps that are also working in the background that self update and or send notifications.

AOD would also use power.

The phone keeping hold of signal does too, so for example if signal is poor the phone would need to work harder to maintain connection etc.

The Battery usage section is more to give an idea on current usage. It may not always be 100% accurate.

A good troubleshooting step is >

  • Clear Cache Files from the phone's System Partition Section  > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop or use a Tv's USB Port to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files.There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too { Possibly excluding the s²⁴ Series of phone's }

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

Took these screen shots on the day I posted this. Issue appears to have subsided since the latest update, as I now get about 50% battery usage daily with 3-4 hrs of daily screen time. (More screen time, same battery consumption)

I still find that the usage analytics only show  10-20% of the actual usage but I digress.

You seem to be hardly using your phone.

Either way. Lots of things like mobile signal, location always ON and background data can affect battery drain even when on idle.

See how it goes for you and maybe report back after a week or so.
