I'm pretty sure it's set at that brightness just so it doesn't use too much battery

Yea just go into settings click go in display settings and go onto always on display and turn auto brightness off and set the brightness to max. This is on an s23 ultra so I'm pretty certain it will be the same on the s24 ultra

It might be like the iPhone where it decides 🤔 I hope not though but if you can't find it would seem this is the case. It's suppose to be more detailed I have heard.

Yep they seem to have removed both the brightness control and also the portrait/ landscape orientation setting, really annoying as I've always previously had mine on next to the bed so i can see the time during the night but it's way too bright with the S24 as it tracks the main screen brightness setting.

Very upset over this. Such a small adjustment for them to remove. I am on call and use my phone as a clock and I like seeing my notifications at a glance. Now when the room is dark I can barely see the clock. Samsung needs to bring the ability to adjust the brightness back.

It's on a cradle being charged. Not using battery. Still too dim.
