Adding contacts won't sync with WhatsApp

For a while now, when I add contacts to my phone via the Contacts app, they won't sync with WhatsApp. What would happen in the past is, after adding the contact, it would show the WhatsApp icon and I could instantly message the person. Now, I have to open whatsapp web, send them a message via desktop and THEN it will show on my phone.

Anyone going through this?

Already did, it's everything OK. Still doesn't work. WhatsApp support is giving me a non-sense standard reply, probably AI generated.
