Why does the S-Pen appear to work after turning of Bluetooth/Bluetooth Low Energy on the S23 Ultra?

I did the same as for other Galaxys and turned off Bluetooth using the icon and also disabled scanning for other devices.

As far as I understood this should also turn off BLE, and maybe it has. Thing is, pointing the S-pen at the screen results in a small circle being shown on the screen. How does it do that, if BLE is off?

The screen digitizer is able to recognise the S-Pen in close proximity to the screen, this isn't Bluetooth capability. Bluetooth with the S-Pen is connected to air actions like when you hold or press the button and make gestures. This is why you can you use an S-Pen on practically all versions of Samsung phones and tablets which support the S-Pen, from the original Galaxy Note right up to the S23, Bluetooth or not. As a side note, contrary to much false information, the S-Pen does not need a charge to work with any Galaxy device, however it requires it for the Bluetooth functions.

Thanks for the info. Course, it did not really make sense that the bluetooth could transmit location, since how would the S-Pen know where it is? And even if possible, the s-pen battery would not last long
