My phone did an update the other day and now there is no adaptive brightness setting. You have the manually adjust the brightness at all times. The option for adaptive brightness has been replaced with some "outdoor mode." I can't find anyone else experiencing this and other phones don't seem to have this change.

Yes, I recently had the LCD screen replaced because it was cracked. The issue started shortly thereafter. I have also noticed other issues such as auto-rotate not working, speakers cutting in and out (except when using Samsung buds), and the previously mentioned disappearance of the auto-brightness.
I went back to the store and they said they can't do anything except try a factor reset...But to me, this seems like it would be more of a connection or hardware problem. I ran the diagnostics under device care as recommended by Johnz237 above. That shows the sensors were not working and I could not recalibrate them.
Do you think a factory reset will fix this? I am leaning towards needing to purchase and install a new Earpiece Speaker (which I believe is also what controls the sensors).

Was it Samsung authorised shop that changed screen? If not I don't think factory reset will help with issue. Screen might not be Samsung one and as such defaults to outdoor mode as that's only compatible

Yes, it was a Samsung authorized shop. I actually found them using Samsung's website...But to be honest, they don't seem very good and even said "well, that's a Samsung for you" when I brought the phone back.

Nope. It has been missing on my s23fe since the android 14 update. They haven't fixed it yet. The outdoor mode was introduced. You can create routine to increase and decrease the brightness. That is the only way. You can use location and time as condition or so.
