Transfer files from Mac

I have been trying unsuccessfully to transfer files from Mac to Samsung S23 FE with USB-C to USB-C cable. I have tried Android File Transfer and Openmtp, both give error "could not connect to device". Mac is either Macmini M2 Pro or iMac M1. Any suggestions?

Install smart switch software as it will also install drivers which will in turn hopefully allow you to connect

Thanks, but that hasn't worked. I have an old Xiaomi phone and that connected OK, so the problem is definitely with the S23 FE phone.
