Check for updates,
restart device,
clear cache in device care settings,
remove device from case and clean case and device including screen for which I use a glasses lense cleaner.
Worked for me although it is a pain that it keeps happening considering the smart view case is quite expensive. Samsung could do more to help people rather than just say buy a new case and give us more money as seems to have happened to others. Customer service these days is shocking all round at times.

exactly the same for me, switching off and removing the case didn't work. Hopefully they'll release the fix soon.

Same for me now... installed 6.1 and the clear view case has stopped working.
I have tried all the above "fixes" but nothing has worked.
Anyone got any other things they have tried to resolve this.
Cheers.

OneUI 6.1 has broken my Smart View case functionality too. What a waste of £41 for the case. Will be grateful for a fix.

I've got a fix !!!! and it works. I have no idea how (Magic and Witchcraft?!?) but it works every time.
After looking around on forums (US, India, Europe) and trying all the fixes such as unrestricted access to battery etc for Always on Display and none of it working I came across this -
Take the phone out of the case
Connect a live power cable (so the phone starts charging)
Put the phone back in the case - the power lead needs to stay connected. Put the top of the phone in fully and then push the bottom part in until the USB connector is touching the case so it stops the rest of the phone going into the case.
Take the power lead out as you push the bottom of the phone into the case. Do it in one movement.
The case will now work !!!!
I have found that if you do updates then it may stop working again but I just repeat the above and it comes back everytime.
A bit of messing about but so far I have a working clear view case again.

It works!!! 😀
I just tried it on my A34 5G and the case is working. I cleared the cache partition following Samsung's instructions (below for reference) before I did your steps above.
What a star! 👍
To clear the cache partition (for reference):
Turn your mobile device off
Press and hold the Volume Up, Side/Power, and Bixby button (if available) until the device vibrates and a Samsung logo appears
Use the volume up and volume down buttons to select Wipe cache partition
Press the Side/Power button to confirm
Use the volume up and volume down buttons to select Yes
Press the Side/Power button to confirm
Press the Side/Power button to select Reboot device
