Trying to connect an ethernet adapter to the s23 ultra, Andoid 14, one UI 6.0.

I tried 2 adapters, same result.

If no ethernet adapter is connected to the phone's usb c port then the setting is grayed out.
If I connect the ethernet adapter is activates. I click it and then go to change to static ip but says that I need to disable ethernet in order to save.

I try the toggle to disable it but it does not work, it just reconnects. If I unplug the adapter it gets me out of the menu and grayed out again.
Drives me nuts, I need to connect to a device and cant because of this on a 1k+ euros phone.

I will share my experience I had the same issue and more ! My phone is s23 ultra, Andoid 14, one UI 6.0. When I connect the ethernet cable the phone processing high Ram & every time I try to enable the connection I get grayed toggle & phone freez and do soft restart. This was endless. So i checked Running Services and noticed that whenever i plug the ethernet to my phone a KLMS agent activated and caused this high RAM &  freezing device then do soft restart ( KLMS agent is a Knox protection policy I believe ). So i went through safe mode! And guess what ! It worked just fine but its not supposed to be only for safe mode, this need to be fixed off course

In Safe Mode just plug & play , no need to change to static ip. Plug the cable, then enable ethernet connection this step is must if you somehow sturggled to find just type in stteing search ethernet and start with it, I used connection type as DHCP, second go to mobile Hotspot and Tethering & enable Ethernet Tethering. Test your connection hope it works

It's very counter-intuitive, but it can be done. First you must disable the Ethernet switch. Then "Configure Ethernet device" with static IP and gateway, and the Save button will be enabled. Then you can re-enable the Ethernet.
