Apple are always going to have far better accessories available I'm afraid. With something like this there's always going to be a tradeoff as you're covering important parts of the phone that were designed to be unobstructed. With regard to the fingerprint issue, I find re-registering the fingerprint whenever a new screen protector is added helps a lot with that, for the mic, maybe a Bluetooth headset?
An alternative could be something that the phone goes in while you're in these conditions, think zip lock bag (we used to do this to waterproof our kit before everything had a IP rating), then you can easily remove it when you need to use it. One of my phones gets far more abuse than the others, I just have a normal case on it and only wirelessly charge it as not to fudge the charge port if there's and debris in there. These phones can withstand a lot, it's inserting and removing things where most of the damage occurs with things like dust
