Hi everyone!

I had my phone stolen and have started trying to restore backups to a new phone.

I've downloaded WhatsApp and it has restored all my messages but while I can see photos in WhatsApp chats that I've shared with friends, not all of them have downloaded to my phone photos. Do you know how to restore them all?

I also can't work out how to restore photos I took on my stolen phone- does anyone know how to do this?

Thank you!

If photos were synced to Google, then sign into your Google account on your phone and install Google photos. If you previously synced to OneDrive then photos should be available in your Samsung Gallery when you add your Microsoft account and switch on sync in Gallery settings.

@sposh: It should be possible to download media from WhatsApp to your Gallery by following the steps below.

Open WhatsApp > Tap the 3 dots in the top right > Settings > Storage and data > Media auto-download > Set your preferences from here. The photos and videos should then be visible in the Albums tab of the Gallery app under 'WhatsApp Images' and 'WhatsApp Videos'.

To access your photos, I recommend swiping up from your Home screen, tapping on the Google folder, and selecting 'Photos'. This will contain an archive of the images captured on your previous device, provided that you have registered the same Google account to your new phone (Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts > Add account > Google).

Let me know how you get on.
