RCS messages on s23 ultra

How can i rid myself of the god awful rcs massaging and get back on the more reliable sms..mms..

Im fed up with messages not sending or getting through to me

You can open your messages app. Tap the 3 dots, go to settings > chat settings. Toggle off chat features. Or go to settings > connections > more connection settings. Toggle off rich communications.

Hi Fiona..sorry to say neither of your tips worked.... when i opened messages there wasnt 3dots on the page.( weird i know)
In " more settings" rich communications is already toggled off but as soon as i go to text someone , there it is again
RCA message with "whoever" is still there

Are you using Google messages or samsung messages? I am not using Google messages, but there should be a setting to turn chat off in the app.

Not sure to be honest,all I know is
RCS message is inside the type box before i start typing

The challenge with turning off RCS in Google Messages is that if your last message out to someone was on RCS, and you turn it off, anything they send you back won't arrive.

So there is a journey to educate your contacts to only use SMS.

RCS is far from reliable sadly.

To turn RCS off, open your messages app.

Top right, click on your initial in the circle.

Select Message Settings

RCS should be at the top. Click on it.

SLIDE TO OFF 🤞

Then use SMS to message those who you are likely to message. Even if just "hi how are you". It will go by SMS and that should fix your issue 😄
