Hi all,

Just yesterday I upgraded to an Galaxy S23  Ultra from a Google Pixel 4a 5G phone.  One thing I cannot seem to find/replicate on the new phone is the ability to share a picture/video via a link (Google Photos).  e.g.

share to.png

I have Google Photos on my new phone but there's no option to share via that method. Can anyone please tell me how I can add this to the "Share to apps" section?

Many thanks

The first screenshot is indeed the Gallery app.

Quick Share should be available by default. You will not find it in More > Apps. It could possibly be missing due to the launcher or the theme that you are curently using.

Do you have the latest version of the app 6.43? I have a S22+ and do see the  option to share via a link.

Click on ... More; there will be more apps there

Hi @Neo001

Ok so I have that option when I open the Google Photos app directly from a shortcut.

I think the issue is that the Samsung camera app sometimes opens pictures with Gallery (no sharing to link) and sometimes to Google Photos, and I do not know why it varies if I'm honest.

I typically edit and share a photo after taking it via the small circle shown in red below.

So I guess my question is, how do I set the default photo editor that the camera used?

Thanks

Thanks,  that's the first thing I checked, it's not in the ...More

I used to fins on my Pixel phone that the options in n the more submenu varied a lot and there seemed to me, to be no rhyme or reason.

Thanks

Hi David,

The Camera app will always open the Samsung Gallery when you click open a photo that was last taken.

To share a photo as a link, click on Quick Share which then gives you an option to share it as a link.

You can also share via link using the gallery app. Select quick share and there will be several options for sharing via link.

I do not think you can set google photos as default when using the camera app. I believe the camera app and gallery are rightly knitted to the point that the camera app may not work correctly if it is removed.

Hi @Risky24 & @Neo001

Thanks for your responses.  I did think that the camera and gallery must closely coupled as well.  Think this could also be down to me confusing the two apps after launching from the camera.

Is the above the Gallery app?

I don't seem to have a Quick Share option, from the ...More items, just these.

To be honest I can work around any of these minor niggles 😁

Just wondered if I was missing the obvious.

Thanks
