Anyone noticed their battery usage really been impacted post-installation of the subject software update? Much higher battery use than before despite optimisation.

Ii wouldn't think having a S25ultra is an older device like your referring too. Even the battery drain is effecting some users of that model. So don't talk off your head with your easy fix.

Because we have repeatedly answered the same question yet (new) members don't follow forum etiquette and search first.

If I've answered this question over 100 times I wouldn't be surprised. Getting a bit fed up with it as are other regulars in here.
I am not employed by Samsung nor do I receive any remuneration as a Samsung Members Star.

My device is an S25 Ultra.

As I have mentioned in quite a number of other posts.

Battery drainers

1. Always ON location and always ON background data.

I have seen Google services up in my battery stats which by default uses the above and most are needed by system.

I'd just wait for the next update as at this point.

Specially if OP hasn't installed any other apps or changed settings besides found the update.

I have a habit of fully Factory resetting my phone after a major OS update or once every six months.

But then that is me and I'm cuckoo head. But it has served me well 🙏

I only do a full factory reset if the clear cache partition hasn't solved my problem and there seems no other solution. But you are not a cuckoo head. Just someone who loves a perfectly working phone

@TornadoJoe After the update your device goes through the learning phase again which can take up to 14 days, there may be a bit of a hit even after clearing the cache partition.

you could also try a Battery  stats Reset, with the Auto Blocker turned off dial *#9900# in the Samsung phone App.  scroll down to Batteystats Reset ,tap that and Restart Device.  This has also been mentioned recently by @lminvti @Moiramon  and  @Piper123   recently.

However there may also be a fix in the works whch will improve matters further.
