One UI 6.1 battery safety feature issue

Here is an issue: in the 6.1 version of One UI a battery safety feature has been expanded, now there is an option to stop charge when the battery level reaches 100% and to resume it once it drops back to 95%. I've got S23 Ultra, and for some reason charge doesn't stop when 100% level is reached. Tested it twice now during night. How to make it work as intended?photo_5210739252646764890_y.jpgphoto_5210739252646764891_y.jpg

So you are getting at the fact that it's never 100% in the first place? Like it's always 99.999% or whatever? To keep the phone and other processes running?

Don't worry bro, if you're using certified chargers and phones such as Samsung u be fine as they have safety things in them to regulate power coming in.

It does stop charging from what I've seen. It doesn't drop to 95% from 100% in an hour or 2 or maybe even up to 10, unless you have a very taxed setup with many background draining apps/tasks. When I've left mine, it's usually at 100 or 99% after several hours after reaching 100%.

Well, yesterday I did this: charged it to 100% and started playing games, usually after 1 hour of COD I lose about 13-20%, however after 1 hour yesterday I didn't lose a single %, which clearly means that it's still charging

Actually means nothing without context. The first thing I'd check is whether battery bypass is enabled, I'd hope so, as running your device this way without it is a sure fire way to killing your battery faster. Secondly, if it is enabled and you had it plugged in whilst gaming, it may not lose any battery since it's purely running off the main supply.

TL:DR your test can't conclusively determine if it is trickle charging or not, but from my testing, it does stop at 100%.

Thanks for the remark, let me make some things clear:
1) I didn't enable battery bypass
2) I don't usually use my phone while charging as you've correctly mentioned that it will kill my battery, it was just a test to see if the charge really stops or not, I charged my phone to 100% and made sure to stress it so that it loses charge, but it didn't (while plugged with "Basic protection" enabled).
3) According to my other testing attempts I can clearly see that when my battery level reaches 100% it does not stop charging despite enabled "Basic protection". Which is why I created this post in the first place. I reached out to Samsung in the Members app, still haven't recieved an answer.
Could you just clarify for me, what phone do you use and does your charge stop with Basic protection when it reaches 100%? Does the battery level actually go down to 99, 98, 97% etc. while plugged?

I'm using the S24 Ultra and I've attached screens where it does show it dropping while still on charge using basic protection.1712095228078.jpg1712095228096.jpg1712095228113.jpg1712095228128.jpg

As you can see, every fall never rises back to 100% and it's indicticative of it just idle draining. I know off charge from 100%, my phone can stay at 100% for hours before hitting 99%. Just reaching 95% would likely take over 6+ hours. If I get some time, I'll try leave it idle after a full charge and see how long dropping to 95% takes (off the charger). No promises though, I tend to use the phone a lot 🙃

Wow, ok, I can clearly see that this feature works perftectly fine on your S24 Ultra, it reaches 100 and goes to 99 and 98 after some time. Maybe it doesn't work as intended on S23 Ultra or whatever, who knows, I will stick to Adaptive mode for now... Thanks for your input anyway, have a good night!

You need to clear the cache in the recovery mode. And it will work after that. I used basic and sometime i get up with 98 or 97 percent because of the protection. Before wiped the cache always stays at 100.
