Hi community, a lot of people seem to not know that our devices didn't get a crucial qol update, Super HDR is apparently absent from our devices in oneui6.1, it's a shame especially when iPhone users got it as an update after the S24 launch in a lot of previous Gen devices, it's a feature that is the way forward, pixels got it too, we have the hardware to support it, and the algorithms should be hardware agnostic(HDR display excluded).
As a hobbyist photographer I am really bummed, but even for casual everyday users it's a great update as their photography experience in all these devices will automatically be upgraded, it's 2024, we must be able to preview photos is HDR.
Come on samsung...
I hope this will get fixed.
am happy we got the ai ones but for me and a lot of people this one is probably more useful eve

You just dismissed HDR tonemapping, sdr dimming, and so many science trying to bring true life dynamic range, vibrancy, with "Just push up the brightness".
I guess that's why Samsung won't even bother in the end.
Apple will dominate further unfortunately.

I am sorry but I think you are not into tech, niche feature?
I am a professional color grader in broadcasting, I can understand, and tell, how this "niche" feature is gonna be a crucial qol feature going forward.
Setting the HDR standard in photography on everyday content(Chromium based browsers already support this, IG is starting to, Lightroom mobile as well)to correctly portray lifelike pictures on any android is a niche feature?
You can research a bit on what Ultra HDR is.
Totally dismissing people who payed hard earnt money to get a flagship device only to be unable to support the standard that every device will have in the immediate near future. Tell me why people should even get Samsung devices at a premium? Especially when it's doable but they decide not to pay a week worth of developer salaries to port it?
I am sorry, but I won't support a company over consumers.

Give the everyday user this https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/170wnb0/google_chrome_on_android_14_adds_support_for/
Then take it from them, then ask them if it was a niche feature or not.
Some things are ok when we don't have them, but when we eventually have them, they become the standards.
Next thing you'll tell me is that when ai computational photography arrived it was a niche feature, or when HDR video playback came, it was a niche feature, come on man.
This is fanboyism at best, you act like Samsung's attorney.

Huh? iPhone 12 upwards, pixel 4a upwards.
But that was not what I implied, you downplay a crucial and importand feature that it's about to be the industry standard in mobile photography, and I provide you some easy to understand pieces of information to prove you wrong, all I am saying and all this time since this topic's inception was that feature that can be easily implemented, didn't, and that like Apple and Google, samsung should follow their steps as this feature will become something we take for granted as HDR VIDEOS, and you keep downplaying like you are a stockholder, now you try to derail the thread and act like you don't understand.
I get that you have and HDR TV, right?
Take a look at some SDR and HDR 10+ or Dolby Vision, Heck, even HDR10 base content, how is that niche?
Whatever, I am done, I wasn't expecting to speak with undercover CEO of Samsung trying to convince me I am wrong to demand a simple feature.

That's incorrect, what you see is in SDR...
Well, you don't know what you are talking about, I am sorry, I won't argue anymore, there is no point, have a nice day.
For those who know and for Samsung devs... please just set the ro.surface_flinger.enable_sdr_dimming to 1.
Thanks.
