After the February 2025 update, I have battery drain issues. For example, I use Instagram for 3 minutes, and 2% of the battery is gone.

Please fix the February update. Also, fix the same update for the Samsung Galaxy S10 tab  Ultra.

Hi! Welcome to the Samsung Members community.

Without screenshots from Device Care—Battery, it's hard to see what's going on.

For now, I would make sure other applications from both the Galaxy Store and Google Play Store are updated.

In addition, clear the cache partition—this is recommended as a general fix for issues after an update.
*Plug into a PC/laptop
1. Turn off the phone.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Side buttons.
3. Release the Side button when the phone turns on.
4. Press and hold the Volume Up button until the phone enters Recovery Mode.
5. Use the Volume Down button to select Wipe cache partition.
6. Press the Side button.
7. Use the Volume Down button to select Yes.
8. Press the Side button.
9. The phone will automatically reset and reboot.

After an update it can occasionally take a few days for the phone to settle @Mirza Adeel BAIG

If this continues then a Factory reset maybe the very last resort.

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

I have massive problems with the battery since the february 2025 update with my Galaxy S23 UltraScreenshot_20250228_091252_AccuBattery.jpgScreenshot_20250228_120153_Device care.jpgScreenshot_20250228_120808_AccuBattery.jpgScreenshot_20250228_123645_Device care.jpg!
It shows in accu battery and the battery is empty so fast, that I have to charge at least 2 times a day with no new apps or usage behaviour.
On 24.02.2025 battery health was on 95%. After the update immediatly lost 10% of capacity with the restart and it shows now only 80% capacity left in accu battery.

Exactly, I have a very similar problem in the s23 Ultra, previously the battery level at 100 percent showed me 4727 mAh, currently 4620 mAh in the aida 64 program. I wiped the cache partition, optimized the application in the app booster. It did nothing, the phone works noticeably worse. Samsung deliberately kills good old phones. This is my last Samsung, I hate their weak policy

I have the same problem. When I updated the phone to February 2025 update the percentage before the update was at around ~35% and after the update it was at below 15%. Accubattery shows a drastic loss in capacity. Now the battery duration has tanked, the phone won't last a day even with light use, when it wasn't the case with the previous update. More people on other places like Reddit are complaining about the same problem. It's not many, but it's not an insignificant number either. I wish Samsung would address this because it's absurd an update could mess up the battery so much, which I've always been satisfied with until now.

I had two calls with Samsung support about the issue. First of all the information given was that with every update users report issues with the battery. My opinion on this is that this is true, the question is to which extend is it really evident and how many people report that issue.

Therefore, please report the problem via Samsungs member app so that they know that more people run into this issue.

Support from Samsung was given in the way that I was told to use the phone in offline mode and with WiFi/Wlan-Calling to save battery as the signal in my flat/apartment is very bad (info: but it hasn't changed since the update) and that I should not use "Maximum" battery saving with only max. 80% charge instead use "Adaptive" with max. 100% charge.

A huge factory on battery drain can/could be the network you are in with your SIM cards.

Charging to 100%, being in "Offline" mode with WiFi/WLAN calling brought me to better battery life!

BUT the thing is that all of this was not necessary before the update! The mentioned changes in how I use my phone are partly inconvenient and additionally I don't trust the "Adaptive" modus with 100% charging to be as battery pleasing as the "Maximum" modus with max. 80%.

According to the support and the measuring tools my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra should have full battery capacity with 5000mAh and only a battery cycle count of 488 after a bit more than 2 years.

The support admitted at least that the prediction for how long a full charge will last, which was a bit more than one 1 day, was way to little and not explainable.

What I have recognized with the 100% full charge was that after I unplugged the charging cable that I lost 3% down to 97% in a few minutes. Plugged the cable back in again to charge to 100% and waited for bit more - unplugged and got 100% for quite some longer time.

Projection at 91% charge for how long a charge lasts was now at 3d 19h!!!!

Projection at 88% charge for how long a charge lasts dropped to 2d 3h.

Projection at 77% charge for how long a charge lasts dropped to 1d 5h.

Conclusion

  • According to Samsungs measurements battery is still 100%.
  • According to AccuBattery before February 2025 update battery is around 4640mAh and 96%
  • According to AccuBattery after February 2025 update battery is around 4267mAh and 88%

Realistically I was able before February 2025 update to have a full day from 4 pm to 4pm with a charge from 80% down to 15% with a screen on time around 4,5 hours.

After February 2025 update:

  • Lost 373 mAh or around 8% capacity
  • After charging to 80% losing immediately 3% in a few minutes
  • Can't get through a whole day 24h with 80% ->15%
  • Have to charge around 6,5 hours earlier only 17,5 hours from 80% -> 15%

Problem Causes:

  1. Technical defect that accidentally appeared at the time the update was installed --> I don't think so
  2. Some general software bug that doesn't read the battery correct.
  3. Some software bug around the SIM network connection that causes the battery to drain faster.
  4. Combination of point 2 and 3.

I really hope that this buggy battery behavior is not on purpose from Google or Samsung. I bought the device with the plan to use it as long there are updates for it (5 years). It is not even at half of it its official support lifetime and shows degradation. My hope is that the next update brings a fix for it but I am really skeptical as there seems to be no acknowledging to that there is an issue at all. If they would at least admit it and work on a fix I would be way more confident for a fix.

Additionally according to Samsung support it could already be that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra may become OneUI 7 Update already in March 2025.
