Has anybody had issues with GPS dropping out on the S23 Ultra? I am booked in for a repair, but I notice a quick Google search says I am not the only one.

Cheers

No issues on my end. I've had the S23U since launch.

No problems with mine too and I use apps regularly that use GPS.

I use my phone for navigation in the mountains when I can't be bothered using a map and compass. Every one of my numerous apps for this keep having issues with direction of travel. Works intermittent with map rotation one minute, up north the next.

If you're using it in the mountains, you will get issues. GPS on phones usually rely on mobile data to improve accuracy, if you have no service then you will get GPS service only. Gps relies on line of sight, hence GPS is flaky in bad weather

Cheers for the info, although I am aware of how GPS works. It has more to do with map orientation (map moves with movement of the phone) similar to orientation of a paper map to match the terrain you are looking at). Most high end mapping software for offline use usually deal will mountains whatever the weather as experience as shown me. The particular software is Locus Maps 4. I have the same issue in clear good reception areas as I do poor weather mountainous areas.

Issue only started around August/September and they state no bugs on their end.
