Best not to have too many Anti viruses and would say no.  Personally I do not think an Anti virus on Android is strictly necessary if  you do not go outside official sources, I am happy with the security  protection provided by Knox and McAfee Anti Virus is on Board should you wish to use it.  Think it can create problems if you have additional  Anti Virus software running with the MCAfee enabled, opinions vary though.

You can use device care in settings as you don't need to subscribe to various Anti viruses providers as device care is free to use in partnership with McAfee.

Ii have Norton on my phone but only cose I have a 5 device subscription so might as well use it.

Norton is my go to my pc, it's one of the best in my opinion

This is purely a matter of choice and opinion. 

I personally do not have any outside outside anti virus apps etc on my phone. 

Be aware that some of these can be pretty resource hungry too.

I wouldn't recommend having anti-virus installed on your phone. If you install all of your apps from the Play Store, then you don't need anti-virus as Google Play Protect scans all of your apps before you download them. I also use the built-in protection provided by Mcafee on device care 👍
