The connected USB device is not supported

Good afternoon all. I'm having a bit of a crisis with my S22 and hope that there is a tekky on here who can prevent me stamping on it. 

I am a singer and as such need to connect my phone to my P.A. to play my backing tracks. My last phone required a USBc to 3.5mm connector and as soon as I plugged it in, it played my music directly from my phone through my speakers. 

The S22 doesn't want to do this and displays the above message. I've checked that the cable still works on the old phone (it does) and tried a different cable in case and all good with old phone but still getting the same message on the S22.  

I have looked online and have tried several workarounds but with no joy as yet. Please, please take a few mins to answer if you're having or have had the same issue as me as I'm in a bit of a crisis with this and have had to take my old phone along which is a bit ridiculous to say the least.

Your USB-C to 3.5mm jack needs a dac built in for it to be supported. You can buy one directly from Samsung website, if you buy anywhere else make sure it is one with a dac built in.

Thank you Fiona26. Really helpful. So, given that my last phone worked well with the 2 connectors I have, I should assume that the S22 just needs a DAC when my old phone didn't?

That's correct your old phone probably has a dac built into the phone. Meaning your USB-C to 3.5mm jack adaptor doesn't.

Thank you again! I'm keeping everything crossed that you're not affiliated with Samsung Having 2 different cables already, I'm already resenting paying out even more to them for a 3rd. It all seems a bit 'Apple' . If this fix doesn't work, I'll be left wondering. That said, if it works, it's a hell of a headache sorted and I'm indebted to you. x

I'm 100% sure you need a USB-C to 3.5mm jack adaptor with a dac chip. Keep us updated.

I had this problem with some wired headphones so bought a USB-C to 3.5 female adaptor with a DAC chip from a online retailer and the headphones are working perfectly.

Have just recieved my adapter with dac chip through the post. A little late due to postal strikes but i can confirm that it worked. However, NOT immediately. Do note, if yiu have the same issue and are looking for a fix, I did have to follow a youtube clip to help me enable developer options and then had to scroll down to 'media' then turn off an enabled toggle marked 'Disable USB audio routing'.
The minute i did this and plugged the adaptor back in, the music started blasting through my speakers. Although im still a bit miffed to have had to line Samsungs pockets even more, couldn't be happier to say that my old phone is now actually my old phone. Thanks to fiona26 and the support of this forum.

Hello, I bought a new adaptor from USB-C to 3.5 mm with DAC and it still doesn't work, it says that the phone does not support it. Is there anything I could possibly do to fix this?

Sorry to hear you're having issues. It's a bit of a faff but you might need to source the same video I did in the above post and enable the 'disable audio routing' toggle. Wishing you luck.
