I have a new smart lightbulb and can only deal with it initially on 2.4ghz.

How do I change to 2.4ghz without disabling the 5ghz band on my router?

The bands aren't seperate and cannot be separated without turning one off and I can't do that as it would cause so many issues.

I've had a look around the WiFi settings on my phone and cannot see anything related to bands.

Hi Any,  Sorry you are incorrect.  New modems from Spectrum do not have the capability of setting up or splitting the 2 bands.  They are aware of the issue and are working on it but don't expect anything soon

I don't think bt will ever allow splitting bands. This is why I don't get new routers every time I renew the broadband contract

After the setup via hotspot, do you need to use mobile hotspot everytime when using the lightbulbs? Or does it work with the wifi router?

How did you manage to do it?

Did you name your hotspot as your router SSID with the same password?

Could you please guide me through the steps,  thank you

Ok let's put it another way we don't want to split networks or ***** about in any way when we have so called flagship Samsung devices that cost £1400. I cannot believe there is not the ability to.just switch 5ghz on of off or vise versa with 2.4ghz. The fact that every similar question is met with this basic fiddle with router and home network instead is just stupid. So any one got an answer?

You can't set the galaxy devices to use 2.4ghz or 5ghz. It's upto the router. In your router change the 5ghz ssid to say byhub1-5ghz. I have a virgin media router so for me it's vm12345 for 2.4ghz or vm12345-5G for 5ghz. It's as simple as that
