...because I have to say, I'm not liking it. Or the fact that I can only change the order of (whatever the hell those things are) but not remove them. 

I also don't like the fact that I have to swipe left to see notifications from apps.

It's called the quick access panel and has been around since Android began. Are you new to the OS by chance?

Thank you. No I'm not new to the OS. I just didn't know what it was called.

Oh ok. Well if you want to have a similar experience using it like it was in older OneUI, simply select the panel settings option and change the settings from "separate" to "together".

You also don't need to swipe left to access it. Just swipe down from the top right of the screen. Or use the together setting as Joeeye said

If you press on the pencil you can put the notifications and quick access together. You can swipe anywhere then 🙂
