I have a new Samsung Galaxy S22. I transferred with Smartswitch everything over from my old phone (Galaxy20) to the new one. I cannot locate the previous Whatsapp chats on my new phone. where can I find it?

It's probably because backup in Whatsapp wasn't enabled on your S20.
You'll need to do a backup of your WhatsApp chats on your S20 and then re-do the smartswitch selecting only WhatsApp. You can force it to do a backup to the handset and Google Drive.

Delete WhatsApp on your S22 before re-doing the smartsuite process again to make sure it transfers correctly.

You'd have to backup the WhatsApp chats on your old phone before you remove the sim card.
Once backup is completed then you are ready to setup on your new phone.
On first loading up WhatsApp on the new phone, you are given the option to restore from backed up data.
If you have already removed the sim and registered the number on the new phone, you may have lost the opportunity to backup your chats.
As far as I'm aware, smartwitch can't save those chats from third party Apps like that.

As @Glenntech said. SmartSwitch cannot do WhatsApp. One has to backup chat on WhatsApp and be sure to tick that you are backing the media as well. Then install WhatsApp on the new phone, lunch it and download the data.
