I was scrolling through my settings and I saw an option when I never saw before on my Note10+, which was 'Discharge the battery at 85% to maintain battery health'?

I obviously know what it means but is it advise to turn it on or leave it off?

Another question is, there fast charging and super fast charging, I suppose I should just turn off fast charging, as I'm using the 45w charger.

You can keep the 45w charging on it while just charge way faster obviously.

But people turn this features for a few good reasons
- It helps make the battery life last much longer so you probably won't have to worry about replacing the battery say after 5 years.

- and some people find it's better for the environment to not fully charge the phone. But overall its a personal preference.

- if your a heavy user I would recommend charing it to 100% but if your a light user who is on and off. Thus future is handy to have on if you don't wanna over charge the battery.

Hope this helps

Yeah I didn't realise that fast charge and super fast charge were both turned, which probably wasted more electricity than required, as it said charging 2.0?

But I've turned fast charge off, and left super fast on.

I normally charge to 100%, saves me from charging it later on in the day 🙂

I'm all about saving the environment, so you'd never see me waste anything.

Also, I like that samsung made the S22 series out of fishing nets, and the phone still feels very premium, its impressive.

I don't limit my charge to 85% because I can be quite a heavy user.
But if 85% will give you a full day's use or you can be near a charger, then why not use it.
I don't use fast charging as I will stick it on normal wireless charge in the evening. Slower charging will help prolong battery life.
Occasionally I will use fast wired charging if I need to.

They expect 50 tons of fishing nets to be saved from the oceans to produce the materials for the S22 series. As far as I know it's only the power and volume buttons that's are made from the recycled nets, they are then coated in aluminum. Maybe a few internal components too, but even so they still combine the recycled net plastics with real plastics at a 20/80 ratio. a tiny fraction of the phone. Considering that estimates put the amount of fishing nets lost or discarded at sea at 640,000 tonnes per year is really not that impressive. Greenwashing at its finest. How much carbon does it take to convert the nets into useable pellets for plastic production? Likely more than just your average plastic.

If they cared about the environment they wouldn't have "upped" the charging speeds with a new 45w charging brick which has been shown in testing to only speed up charging times by 1-5 minutes from 0% to 100% compared to the 25w from last year. The only real gains in speed that the brick gives users is in the short charges to boost your battery in a hurry when it's running low and even then it's not much faster. They do make the chargers from recycled plastics but again it's still plastic.

Samsung also have a habit of lumping several free products with the launch of new products. I didn't get the charging brick with my S21 Ultra, but I did get a Pair of Buds Pro and a SmartTag which was sent to me in a sizeable box with 3 more boxes inside, the phone, the buds and the SmartTag. Another delivery later I got the charger in its seperate packaging... within another box.
