A user on Reddit has discover that if you apply the stock Samsung wallpapers to your home/lockscreen on your S22 device the overall performance of the device improves massively removing all lag/stutters and creates much smoother animations/scrolling.

I have tried it on my regular S22 exynos and the difference is night and day. A lot of other users have tried this and found the same.

Please could you try this on your devices and report back so Samsung will see this post and use it to hopefully fix performance issues.

Third party screen savers etc can have all sorts of extra stuff that work in the background. Especially the live wallpapers.
It's one of the things that Google is trying to get on top of and removing apps etc that have nefarious things going on in the background and hidden charges etc.
Trouble is that Samsung can possibly block some of this sort of thing from affecting the phone performance, but these third party developers will just find a way around it.
Hopefully further iterations of Android software will close off these issues.
Think this was found out a couple of years ago on another make of phone. Can't remember what one now

Isn't the stock Samsung wallpapers installed by default?

Hi @Joemile

I always use the same wallpaper and my Samsung Galaxy s²² Ultra is fine.

I also use the stock Samsung One Ui.

What we do see is if a person opts to use a downloaded theme.

These themes are created by theme developers and can on rare occasion clash with other apps and functions on the phone.

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²³ Ultra 512Gb in Phantom Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

Just for a bit of extra information, I have always used the the app 'backdrop' for my wallpapers. You can apply them directly through the app for download and then apply through the one UI launcher.

I decided to apply stock wallpapers and my performance has increases an insane amount in all area of the device, it has gone from feeling broken to an actual flagship device.

Here is the Reddit thread where you can see users with the same experience: https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS22/comments/u0b2jw/s22_base_performing_much_smoother_with_stock/?utm...

This is a very interesting thread. I get bored of my Exynos 2100 S21 Ultra's themes I must confess and change them every month or so. I have bought about 14 different ones in all, ALL of which came from the Samsung Themes store and most of them have contained live wallpapers and I have never had a single problem with any of them so far so I assume this is all an Exynos 2200 problem but nothing that cannot be rectified by a good software update at some point?. I hope that any S22 owner with lag and stuttering issues gets directed to this thread as it could be so helpful to them..👍

You can use any pictures you like without a performance hit as long as you are not using a third party app to apply them. The stock settings dialogue can load an image you download manually or take with your camera with no loss of performance. It will apply them to both or either lock screen or home

Not true. There a huge performance difference even with downloaded and applied wallpapers. I believe it's something to do with the wallpaper sizes. The stock wallpapers must be optimised for OneUI.
