I have moved about 6Gb off my phone (images, temp files and trash) but I still cannot update my OS - I get "NOT enough storage space" error.
How do I resolve this problem?

You likely still don't have enough space because the "trash" folder needs to be permanently emptied, and the OS may require more space than you think for the update. To resolve this, first, find and permanently empty the trash/recently deleted folder for your photos and files. Then, clear the cache for apps, and uninstall any unused apps to free up more space for the OS update to complete.

Hi @Big-Don

You might need to delete unused apps to create enough space for the OS. Did you try to reboot the phone and trying to install the update?

I would create a backup copy using Smart Switch, remove as many Apps as possible. Gaming apps could use a lot of space. Update the phone and then restore the apps.

It has occurred to me there is a separate "partition" specifically reserved for System Files/OS and Apps .. is this correct?
It would explain why reducing Data seems to have no effect... 🤔🤷🏻 ♂️

Hi @Big-Don, if you're sure you have enough storage on your phone, then it'd be worth clearing the cache partition. This will not remove any data, it will simply delete any unused files that may have become corrupted. To do this, please follow the steps below:

> Connect your phone to a computer using your USB charging cable.
> Turn your phone off.
> Hold down the Volume up and Power buttons on your phone at the same time. Keep holding the buttons until you see the Android logo.
> Release the Power button.
> When the screen goes blue/black release the Volume up button.
> Using the Volume down button, scroll down to "wipe cache partition".
> Press the Power button to select this option.
> Use the Volume down button to scroll to "Yes".
> Press the Power button to confirm.
> Press the Power button to select "Reboot system now".

Once you've done this, try downloading the new update again, and let us know how you get on. Cheers.
