Just curious as when I had Nokia phones many years ago they were using Carl Zeiss lenses which were a big selling point and top quality, I don't recall software issues like we seem to experience nowadays.

If these lenses aren't made by Samsung, why doesn't the manufacturer show what they are capable of? Are lenses designed differently now so software determines quality rather than the actual lense producing the quality?

as far as I'm aware all new samsung phones have their own lenses in them, all info indicates they are moving completely away from Sony.

and yes, quite a lot of Eastern market phones still use Carl Zeiss albeit it's getting a lot less than it used to be.

in house production = more income per unit (I would have said a lower cost but that isn't passed on to the consumer soo...)

image processing is done via the chipset and software and you do not get as good shots as you would in say Pro mode where you control the majority.

the average consumer has no need for pro mode let alone knowledge as to how it works, would be nice of there was a bigger focus on it as the cameras are genuinely capable of more than what is shown

I did see a video on this, I think comparing to iPhone 12....all the iPhone lenses were Sony and I think all bar one of the S21 lenses were Samsung's own except one...possibly the UW which was Sony....not 100% but will try and find the video to confirm
